A party at Storyville Station is like...

Parties begin with a variety of activities to allow all the party guests time to arrive and get comfortable. Planned distractions include a hands-on craft project, themed dress up costumes, host inspired activities, temporary tattoos, mugging for the camera, etc.

When the time is right, the host begins "table talk" where all the party guests give their creative input and inspirations into how this particular party should unfold.  The host gives the children the illusion that they are inventing the entire experience. Once a plan is set, all the guests gather in the library room for a group photo.

After the group photo, the host guides the birthday child to the discovery of a secret passageway behind the bookshelf. At this point, all party guests have the opportunity to slide down to our "showroom" -- a downstairs party room decorated like an enchanted forest along with theme related scenery, theatrical lighting, and special effects.

The birthday child and guests make their way through an array of activities geared toward the theme and the age of the children.   Everything from unicorn races to the obstacle course, a campfire sing-a-long or the Hokey Pokey and Tooty-Ta.  From barrel racing to fighting the "Dark Side",  there will be plenty of theme-related fun. Even the adults have ample opportunity to get involved.

All guests receive a candy prize as they compete in games to win prizes. Parents who stay for the party are welcome to join in the fun or remain upstairs with beverages and snacks. But be warned, you might be persuaded to help do the Chicken Dance or Conga back upstairs.

After the games are over, guests return to the real world in our banquet room that has been setup up for cake and punch.  With some themes, we even have "tea" in real china cups.

Everyone sings "Happy Birthday" as the lights dim and a cupcake tree is presented to the birthday child sitting in the birthday throne.  Candles are blown out and confetti* flutters down over the birthday guests.

After the cupcakes are served, a screen comes down and the birthday child and guests will watch a slideshow of themselves -- photos that your hosts have been snapping from the moment the guests arrived until the moment the candles are blown out -- edited and underscored with music.

After the slideshow, guests are guided back into the library for present opening (if you so choose). Your hosts will help with opening gifts, being gracious and recording the names of gift-givers.

You'll have so much fun, your 1 1/2 hour party will fly by in no time.

And remember the group photo we took of the party guests all dressed up? Each guest will leave with a group photo in a photo mug*, along with a balloon*.
